Track-by-Track Info: Through the Window
1. Snoopy’s First Date - A fun, upbeat, original pop jazz instrumental written by Stacey’s songwriting
partner, Chris Foster. Featuring Stacey and Mark Fenderson, you can hear the giddy and light tones of a "first
date" as Flugel and Flute pair up and trade lines, all playing over a bass line (Patrick Bettison) that mimics
Snoopy’s theme from the Peanuts’ cartoon.
Flute: Stacey Knights
Flugel Horn: Mark Fenderson
Electric Guitar: Brad Carlton |
Keyboards: Ron Reinhardt
Bass Guitar: Patrick Bettison
Drums & Percussion: Dave Reinhardt |
2. When I’m Dancin’ With You - A pop/jazz ballad that elevates Stacey’s smooth vocal sound to the forefront.
Music by Chris Foster with lyrics by Stacey, it’s a sensual song about a sensual subject, with a great feel and
a good hook! Very smooth and polished, with a touch of sex appeal.
Vocals, Alto Sax: Stacey
Electric Guitar: Brad Carlton
Keyboards: Ron Reinhardt |
Bass Guitar: Tim George
Drums & Percussion: Dave Reinhardt
Background Vocals: Wendy Rich,
Jen Howery, Arlene Kaminski |
3. The Lady In Red - Stacey's smooth jazz arrangment of this popular Chris Deburgh hit quickly
became a favorite request at Stacey’s live gigs (especially when she wore her little red dress!), so its inclusion
on her debut CD was practically mandatory. Her tenor sax work really holds you -and doesn’t let go- from first
measure to the last.
Tenor Sax: Stacey Knights
Electric Guitar: Brad Carlton |
Keys & Bass Patch: Ron Reinhardt
Drums & Percussion: Dave Reinhardt |
4. Busted
- The rippin’ keyboard sounds of Ron Reinhardt (from Richard Elliot’s band) blend together with a
sax section of multi-tracked Stacey to form this tight grooving, funky declaration of originality. Tim George delivers
a hot
Bass lick in the middle of the tune, that left smoke in the air.
Tenor Saxes: Stacey Knights
Keyboards: Ron Reinhardt
Electric Guitar: Brad Carlton |
Bass Guitar: Tim George
Drums & Percussion: Dave Reinhardt |
5. The Golden Rule - A little bit of blues, right in your face. Stacey wrote a song that gives
the finger to all of the inconsiderate people out there! Featuring more of her trademark vocal style, this one
is a lot of fun, even if gold can’t rust (Stacey must have failed chemistry in school!).
Vocals, Alto, Tenor: Stacey Knights
Electric Guitar: Patty Sanphy
Keyboards: Ron Reinhardt
Bass Guitar: Patrick Bettison |
Drums & Percussion: Dave Reinhardt
Trumpet: Mark Fenderson
Trombone: Tom McNair
Background Vocals: Wendy Rich,
Patty Sanphy |
6. Night In Cordoba - Flute and acoustic guitar dominate this Spanish flavored instrumental.
Another great melody line from songwriter Chris Foster that could be found on the soundtrack of romance. Stacey
and Brad Carlton almost "float" through their passionately performed solos
Flute: Stacey Knights
Acoustic Guitar: Brad Carlton
Keyboards: Ron Reinhardt |
Bass Guitar: Patrick Bettison
Drums & Percussion: Dave Reinhardt |
7. Dancer On The Drums - This original vocal tune has Stacey praising the talents of her percussionist,
and so she should! Dave Reinhardt (Richard Elliot’s band) demonstrates his rock steady meter, and is probably the
first drummer to ever get a solo on a smooth jazz tune! He skillfully trades measures with guitarist Brad Carlton
to create a unique tribute to the "backbone of the beat". Stacey’s lyrics are a clever play on words
juxtaposing the art of dancing to the art of drumming.
Vocals: Stacey Knights
Keyboards: Ron Reinhardt
Electric Guitar: Brad Carlton |
Bass Guitar: Patrick Bettison
Drums & Percussion: Dave Reinhardt
Background Vocals: Patty Sanphy |
8. How Deep Is Your Love - An instrumental version of this popular disco era ballad, with lead melody
by Stacey, this time on soprano sax. It’s another favorite of Stacey’s fans as a great slow dancing song!
Soprano Sax: Stacey Knights
Keyboards: Ron Reinhardt |
Bass Guitar: Patrick Bettison
Drums & Percussion: Dave Reinhardt |
9. Croatia -
Flute rules in this original tune by Stacey and Chris Foster. Its simple, but memorable melody line breaks
away to a truly amazing solo! If music could ever transport you to another place, then you’ll definately be going
to Croatia.
Flute: Stacey Knights
Acoustic Guitar: Brad Carlton
Keyboards: Ron Reinhardt
Bass Guitar: Tim George
Drums & Percussion: Dave Reinhardt
10. Through The Window
- Hauntingly beautiful, moody, and "smokey club jazz" have all been used to describe the title track. Through
The Window has a lead melody that Stacey unpretentiously personifies into the essence of desire, as well as the
pain that love can bring. |
|
The sax solo is inspiring, and echoes all the emotions of
the vocal, with a style that has been often compared to Grover Washington, Jr., but can really only be described
as "authentic Stacey Knights".
Vocal, Tenor Sax: Stacey Knights
Keyboards: Ron Reinhardt |
Bass Guitar: Patrick Bettison
Drums: Dave Reinhardt |
