Douglas Fountain, "Wah-lee-tah-kah Won-cha" (Brave One), is of Lakota descent. As a direct descendant of the legendary Chief Sitting Bull, he is a proud member of the Devil's Lake Dakota Sioux. This distinguished legacy uniquely enables Doug to use the knowledge and wisdom of his heritage to create his spectacular one-of-a-kind, original Native American Art.
His impressive body of work inludes spirtit bowls, shard masks, sculptures and ceremonial spirit masks. He uses natural materials, such as buffalo talo, earth paint, deer hide and primitive beadwork. Doug has the distinguished honor of having two pieces included in the Smithsonian Institution's Native American Indian collection, in Washington, D.C.
Doug Fountain embodies the spirit and the power of the Great American Indian. He believes he was called to this work to elevate the awareness of tradition in the culture of the Native American Indians and their universal love and respact for the Earth and all its properties.
