Artie Yellowhorse is of Navajo descent, of the "Kee a a ona" ("Towering House") clan, and the influences of the Navajo culture are readily apparent in her beautiful wearable art. Being a third generation silversmith, Artie's works have literally evolved out of generations of artistic talent. She was also greatly inspired by her mother and grandmother, both of whom were renowned weavers.
Artie resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where her two daughters, along with a nephew, are now involved in the creation and design of the jewelry with their mother. For the Yellowhorse family, fine jewelry design is a family bond and a tradition.
As the tradition continues, Arie hopes that the Yellowhorse designs of today will live on to inspire the young artists of tomorrow...
